Book of Eli is a movie that I actually hated on a first viewing. So, I gave it a second chance. I guess the big problem I had was that it's extremely derivative of so many movies. Typically, I don't have a problem with that. But, I felt like the director did a poor job at it. On a second viewing I decided that it's actually not quite as bad as I thought. Gary Oldman does a fair job as the evil-doer here and Denzel continues his streak of "just ok" roles. I just expect better from two of the best dramatic actors of our time. The Book Of Eli is just an average action flick that could have been much better.
