Second Chance Sundays: Bad Lieutenant - Port of Call New Orleans

My initial impression of this movie was that it was a self serving, egotistical waste of film by accomplished director Werner Herzog. Once again I have only confirmed that first impressions are mostly correct. On a second viewing I enjoyed the story a bit more and didn't mind Cage's over the top performance quite so much. What bothered me more were Herzog's blatant attempts at making this an "art" film. There are many scenes here that should have been left on the cutting room floor but weren't. Herzog needs to take a step back and realize that selfish film making such as this only aggravates the viewer. Based on a second chance, I can only slightly recommend this movie. Just know you're in for a strange ride.
