American: The Bill Hicks Story is one of the best documentaries I've seen this year. It's style is extremely unique to the genre. It's creative use of photos to tell the story is something you rarely see in documentary film making. I didn't really know what to expect from this as I barely remember Bill Hicks and his routine. I was impressed. This is a heartfelt film that takes you through the trials and tribulations of one of America's funniest stand up comics, Bill Hicks, and his untimely death at the age of 32. A promising career was cut short and this film does a phenomenal job of documenting it.
