New To Blu: Stake Land

A cast of relative unknowns make Stake Land one of the best vampire films I've seen in years. The movie plays like a hybrid of Zombieland, The Road, and Children of Men. Fortunately, these are some of my favorite movies of the past decade. While it pays respect to it's influences it creates something new and refreshing in a genre that's been lacking originality for quite some time.

I went in to Stake Land expecting another lame attempt in vampire theater. Not only did the film exceed expectations, it reinvigorates the vamp genre with a fresh perspective on how these movies should be made. Stake Land is an exercise in how a small budget can be used to it's full potential while creating something fresh, terrifying, and altogether successful.

There are no sparkly vampire boys here. See it.
