Guest Post: Paula Deen

Guest written by our friend Donnie Donovan

The other night I was watching Entertainment Tonight on our direct tv. That is when I saw that they were interviewing the queen of southern cooking, Paula Deen. I have been a big fan of Paula’s for many years. I don’t even know how many of her cookbooks I own. I know my favorite Paula Deen cookbook is one that is supposed to be for Christmas recipes. But, I use those recipes all year long. It is one of those cookbooks that has been used a lot with spots all over it from dripping food or flying batter. Somehow you just can’t get all that off once it hits the pages. The person that was interviewing Paula was asking her about being recently diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. The way I understand Type 2 Diabetes, you get that from the way that you eat. It is not something that you were born with. So I guess all her good cooking had made her get this disease. The interviewer was asking her if she was going to change the way that she cooked. She said no, that she was just going to start preaching about eating in moderation. I guess old habits are hard to break, especially if they taste that good.
