New To Blu: Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is a modern drama that chronicles a young boy's emotional journey through New York to find the closure he so desperately needs. While it's a good film that deals with the 9/11 tragedy, it's a bit heavy handed at times and I found the boy's acting to be distracting. His penchant for over acting is a bit much and started to annoy me. However, he's a kid taking on a very heavy topic. For this, I give him credit.

This would not be my choice of movies when it comes to dramas, but it's still a good film that has some redeeming factors and should be a lesson to anyone that takes family for granted. If you're in the mood for a good cry or some seriously depressing moments, take this one on.

The film features some strong performances from Sandra Bullock and Max von Sydow.  Tom Hanks and Jeffrey Wright play supporting roles.

See it with the understanding that it's hard to get through.
