New To Blu: The Watch

What starts out as a typical comedy from these three stars, ultimately turns in to something I could halfway stand by about the mid-way point. The first half of The Watch seems like an unscripted, unfunny hack job that was a dire display of Hill, Stiller, and Vaughn rehashing old roles, but finally takes off about 40 minutes through. In the beginning it seemed like it was going to hardcore suck but ending up turning into a semi-laughable piece of modern comedy with a sci-fi twist.

For a while we were poking fun at the way Hill, Vaughn and Stiller have become caricatures of themselves, but ended up actually liking their characters and the movie. It's a definite twist on the neighborhood vigilante flick while satirizing old school flicks about vengeful men taking back the neighborhood. Billy Crudup also (Watchmen) delivers one of his first comedic roles with ease. Actually, he's one of the best parts of the movie. Also, look for R. Lee Ermey once again playing himself. Imagine that.

As a whole, I ended up liking The Watch much more than I had expected. It's not going to go down in history as a classic comedy like previous movies from these actors, but it's definitely worth the watch. There's a few good laughs, some decent one liners, and a couple cool cameos. If you have time this weekend, check it out. It's worth the watch.
