Movie News: Star Trek 3 Will Explore New Worlds

Director Bob Orci says next Star Trek will be part of 5 year mission.

"Too much action.....
is not logical."
Finally, fans of Star Trek will get the movie they've been waiting for. The next sequel will finally tone down the non-stop action and will commence with exactly what the fans have clamoring for: the exploration of space that was sorely lacking from the first two films.

This will be a welcomed addition to this latest incarnation that has divided audiences down the middle. Some loved the Abrams touch while others have been waiting for them to take it back to the heart of the tv show with the crew venturing the outer reaches of space.

The first film was an origin story while the end of the second set the stage for the 5 year mission to begin. This sounds great, but will Orci be able to deliver exactly what fans want? I certainly hope so. A mix of action and some of that old school Trek adventure will be a nice turn for the super successful franchise.

"In Into Darkness they set out finally where the original series started. The first two films, especially the 2009 Star Trek was an origin story. It was about them coming together. So they weren’t the characters they were in the original series. They were growing into them and that continues on in the second movie. So in this movie they are closer than they are to the original series characters that you have ever seen. They have set off on their five-year mission. So their adventure is going to be in deep space." -Bob Orci
