Could it be true? Dwayne Johnson as Shazam?
Dwayne Johnson all but confirmed he's playing Shazam. He could have been several DC heroes when he mentioned that this
character is as powerful as Superman. The first two answers I came up with were
Shazam and Martian Manhunter.
But then...
He said, "Just say the word." If that isn't the almighty word, "Shazam!," I don't know what is. In the same interview, he pretty much canned the idea that he'd be playing John Stewart despite his love for the character. He expressed the work he and DC have been doing over the last couple of years to fit him into the shoes of the hero that best reflects his abilities and personality. Shazam, for those that don't know, is actually a kid in a very powerful man's hairy, lightning-wielding body. Dwayne Johnson is that already, minus the lightning... we think. He'd be the perfect casting choice!
Me? I'd love to see him play Shazam. I have to admit, I don't know a whole lot about the character, but I've always been a closet big fan waiting to spring forth from my dark corner. Johnson will surely ignite a massive surge of interest in the character if this proves true.
