It appears that 20th Century Fox is moving ahead with a remake to the classic film.
After years and years of development hell and numerous actors being attached to star as the anti-hero, Snake Plissken, Fox has finally gained the rights to remake one of John Carpenter's best films. No actor is attached to take over as Snake yet, but Carpenter himself is attached as an executive producer. So, that's some good news at least.
Years ago there were plans to make a third movie with Kurt Russell, but after the dreaded 1996 Escape From L.A. all hope was abandoned and the second sequel was dropped. Hopefully this reboot will do the character justice and will reignite interest in this long overdue reboot/remake. I'll hold my breath until we actually see a trailer. With the right director, this could be cool.
