After 13 years, director Peter Berg says he's ready to revisit The Rundown with a sequel to one of The Rock's first starring roles. After Johnson's portrayal in The Mummy offshoot, The Scorpion King, it was game on for his career as an action star. The Rundown came along and catapulted him to movie theater stardom and further solidified his comedic potential with a movie that mixed his smartassed personality into the realm of guns and routine beatdowns.
Berg is just waiting for the right moment to strike as The Rock has projects lined up for the next few years. Berg apparently has the script already prepped and is ready to bring on Jonah Hill as a support player. "We’ve been talking about it. You know, I wanted to do it with Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson. If I could get Jonah Hill, I’d do it tomorrow. If I could get Dwayne and Jonah Hill, I’d do it tomorrow.”, says Berg.
With Seann William Scott disappearing from Hollywood, another comedic talent would definitely be needed to balance out the cast. Whether this happens still remains to be seen. But it would be a welcomed continuation considering the positive critical success of the original and Dwayne Johnson's penchant for mixing it up.
