News: Punisher: War Zone Director Lexi Alexander On Board For Wrestler Chris Benoit Biopic Crossface

Lexi Alexander is the new director for the late WWE wrestler Chris Benoit biopic Crossface, which is based upon the book Ring of Hell: The Story of Chris Benoit & the Fall of the Pro Wrestling Industry by Matthew Randazzo V. She has previously directed Punisher: War Zone and Green Street Hooligans, while lately working in television.

The script was written by Jake Goldberger (Life of a King) and Sarah Coulter. Alex A. Ginzburg and Tony Lee will produce, with Ram Getz and Randazzo V serving as executive producers. Crossface, the name of his famous wrestling submission hold, will deal with the story of Benoit and his personal and professional troubles as he struggled with an unknowingly degenerative brain disease, which was most likely caused by wrestling and numerous concussions. Benoit infamously murdered his wife and son in June of 2007 before committing suicide.

"I was pretty certain I'd stay in TV rather than returning to the feature world, because the material just seems so much better in TV, especially in drama, but then Crossface came my way," Alexander said. "A heartbreaking, true story about the dark side of wrestling...I couldn't say no to that."

This could and will most likely have some controversy involved with it when it finely gets released. No announcements of a release date, production schedule, or any type of casting were made. There has to be at least some question on whether WWE and Vince McMahon will make any attempts to halt production on this motion picture. I think casting could prove to be problematic, because he had a very distinct look and muscular build that they are going to have to replicate.
