Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children beat up Mark Wahlberg and a group of gunslingers to win the weekend box office.
The weekend box office numbers are in and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children ends up the victor. The Tim Burton directed movie earned an estimated $28.5 million and bettered the other new release in the drama Deepwater Horizon, which earned an estimated $20.6 million. The Magnificent Seven dropped to number three with $15.7 and a total of $61.6 million. Rounding out the top five are Storks at $14.8 and Sully at $8.4. The other new motion picture was Masterminds, which earned $6.6 million.
