The Closed Beta for Gwent is now launching. The card game from 2015’s game of the year, Witcher 3, was so loved by fans that it warranted a stand-alone title. That’s not why we’re here today though. Possibly the biggest news from this is the announcement from the studio in charge, CD Projekt, has decided to make this a part of Microsoft’s Play Anywhere program. For those of you unfamiliar with it, this means that all your save data and purchases (including of the game itself) will be available to you across Xbox and Windows 10, and you’ll be able to play against people on both systems.
While Gwent is a much smaller game than the Witcher 3, it’s incredibly beneficial for Microsoft’s latest initiative to have such early support from such a prestigious 3rd party studio. I’m personally hoping it all goes well and that we may see their next big title, Cyberpunk 2077, follow suit.
