Early numbers suggest that Doctor Strange will exceed expectations and win its domestic opening weekend.
The new Marvel film is expected to exceed the projected opening weekend box office of $75 million and is looking to open somewhere near $84 million when the dust finally settles. It earned an estimated $32.6 million on Friday, which also included all Thursday night showings. Trolls earned $12.3 million on Friday and is expected to come in second place with a weekend total of around $44 million. Hacksaw Ridge earned $5.2 million on Friday and should end up in third place with around $14 million.
There is still some time for the supreme sorcerer to rake in more than $84 million that it's now expected to earn.
