Amy Schumer is set to take on the role of Barbie in a live-action movie.
According to THR, she will rewrite a screenplay with her sister that was originally done by Hillary Winston (Community). The film will reportedly "try to address those [themes] in a story that begins in a perfect land of Barbies where one woman slowly awakens to the fact that she doesn’t fit it. She is expelled from the idealistic land and journeys to the real world, where she discovers that being unique is an asset." It is said that the story is meant to be inspired by Big, Splash, and Enchanted.
This initially seems like a weird selection in that Schumer is mainly known for being an R-rated style comedian and not someone that you would expect to be the right fit for a family movie. Only time will tell if this ends up being the right fit for this production.
