It seems that Attack on Titan is getting another live action adaptation. Producer David Heyman has been tasked with heading up a domestic version of the film. Even though we just got a two part foreign release that turned the popular anime into a divisive hit across the board, there will now be a U.S. adaptation.
Heyman was a producer on Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, the Harry Potter franchise and the Sandra Bullock hit, Gravity.
Warner Bros. is currently in negotiations to obtain the rights to the property. Other films like Ghost in the Shell have been accused of whitewashing in the casting process, so it will be interesting to see how they work this one out.
While the already released live action films are a lot of fun, many people took issue with the visual effects and action sequences. With a major Hollywood budget behind this, Attack on Titan might get the love it deserves.
