This weekend belongs to Hugh Jackman's final appearance as our favorite mutant, Wolverine. The long awaited finale outperformed most other releases for the first quarter of 2017 and finished with an estimated $85.3 million. It's the biggest opening weekend so far this year and further proves that an R-rated comic book movie can be successful.
It destroyed the previous opening weekend record of $54 million that was held by The LEGO Batman Movie, which finished in fourth place with $11.6. Get Out continued its strong performance finishing in second place with $26.1 and newcomer The Shack finished in third place with an estimated $16.1 million.
