A remake of the John Carpenter classic has been circling for years now and has been shut down numerous times due to various studio problems.
Tonight, word has come down that the project is back on as a high budget film from none other than 20th Century Fox. While no word has been released about who will take on the role of Snake Plissken, a director is reportedly now attached to helm the project.
While he's busy with his Alita: Battle Angel, Robert Rodriguez is being touted as the director for a rebooted Escape From New York. Some may nod their heads at this choice, but Rodriguez definitely has the chops to pull off action and has the edge to keep this close to the original in some way. The Tracking Board broke the news earlier tonight and other sources are also reporting the story.
