Michael Mann has been struggling to keep himself above water with the last few movies he's made. With films like Heat under his belt, his latest films have been lackluster. With the release of Blackhat, his typical flare for slow paced action thrillers turned into an absolute box office bomb that never recouped its budget.
Now, Mann is working on an adaptation of the novel Hue 1968. The story tells of the historic Tet Offensive which was the turning point in the Vietnam war. Mann and Michael DeLuca have acquired the rights to the story and plan on turning it into an event miniseries. The book is written by Mark Bowden who also wrote the story of Black Hawk Down.
