Movie Tidbit: Timothy Olyphant Was Offered The Role of Dom Toretto in the Fast and Furious Franchise

Who would have ever thought that the Fast and Furious franchise would still be going strong? After years and years and the tragic loss of Paul Walker, the series is now on its seventh sequel, which is being called the Die Another Day of the FF saga (take that as you will). With the Fate of the Furious hitting theaters tomorrow night, some early casting news is hitting the web.

When the story for the first movie was being written, they had Timothy Olyphant in mind to take the role of Dominic Toretto. When the project was pitched and then finally greenlit by Universal, Olyphant decided to pass. The role eventually went to Vin Diesel which in turn spawned a career of action roles for the actor. Sometimes these little Hollywood tidbits are extremely interesting, especially considering how successful these movies have been and the paycheck Olyphant would have been receiving for years.
