News: Pirates Director Negotiating To Direct Michael Crichton's Sci-Fi Thriller Micro

Amblin Entertainment is negotiating with Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and Kon-Tiki) to direct the adaptation of Michael Crichton's last novel Micro. The book was not completed at the time of the author's death in 2008. Richard Preston completed it and HarperCollins published it in 2011, where it spent 20 weeks on the bestseller list. Crichton has had multiple books adapted into films, including Andromeda Strain, Congo, and Disclosure. He also had screenplay and directing credits among his credentials, including the screenplay for Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park.

Darren Lemke (Goosebumps) will write the screenplay, with Frank Marshall producing. The story is about three graduate students working for a biotech company in Hawaii, who get miniaturized and thrown out into the rain forest. They must use their scientific knowledge to survive.
