Casting News: Claire Foy For Girl in the Spider's Web

Lisbeth Salander is being brought back to the screen in an adaptation of The Girl in the Spider's Web. While initial reports had claimed that either Scarlett Johannson or Natalie Portman were being actively sought to portray the character in the latest adaptation, it appears that Sony is going a whole different route. Instead of casting a popular actress that would possibly ruin the dark character, they're going a new way.

Apparently, Claire Foy of The Crown is their number one contender to bring Ms. Salander back to the screen. She hasn't quite signed on the dotted line yet but she is their leading choice for the Fede Alvarez project.

Noomi Rapace starred in the original film trilogy and Rooney Mara played her in David Fincher's domestic remake.
