Daniel Radcliffe has agreed to star in the prison drama Escape from Pretoria. It is based upon a true incident that took place in South Africa. Radcliffe will portray Tim Jenkin, one of two white South Africans who were imprisoned in 1978 for being terrorists stemming from their involvement in covert anti-apartheid operations for the African National Congress. They are imprisoned in Pretoria Maximum Security Prison and plan an escape to send a message to the regime. The sales company The Works is handling worldwide sales going into Cannes, David Barron (Harry Potter) is producing, and it is being written and directed by Francis Annan based upon Jenkins autobiography Inside Out: Escape From Pretoria Prison

Barron said that:

“Political without being polemical, ‘Escape From Pretoria’ is a rare combination of genre and drama, and I am delighted to bring together the potent combination of Daniel Radcliffe and Francis Annan on this astonishing true story,”
