News: Netflix Renews 13 Reasons Why For Second Season



Netflix has officially picked up 13 Reasons Why for a second season. Season 2 will consist of 13 episodes and will premiere in 2018. The adaptation of the YA novel from Jay Asher, will continue after the death of Hannah Bake and deal with the other characters' path of healing and recovery. Brian Yorkey will serve as the showrunner for season 2, he previously adapted the first season and served as an executive producer. The critically acclaimed and controversial series dealt with teen suicide, bullying, drunk driving, and rape. Netflix has recently placed more warnings regarding the show after mental health officials warned of potential health risks for certain impressionable youths. The first season was directed by Oscar winner Tom McCarthy, written by Yorkey, and executive produced by Selena Gomez, Joy Gorman, Michael Sugar, Steve Golin and Brian Yorkey from Anonymous Content, Kristel Laiblin and Mandy Teefey.
