News: Shekhar Kapur Will Direct The Authorized Bruce Lee Biopic Little Dragon

Shekhar Kapur has been selected to direct the authorized biopic about Bruce Lee titled Little Dragon. The story will be a contemporary dramatization of the 1950s social and political issues occurring in Hong Kong that would shape Bruce Lee into the famous martial artist and iconic figure. Themes that be touched upon include family disappointment, young love, true friendship, betrayal, racism, deep poverty, and a strong inner fire. It is being produced by Bruce Lee Entertainment, which is owned by Bruce Lee's daughter Shannon Lee. Shannon Lee conducted extensive new research into her father's youth and younger years for this film. She co-wrote the script with Kapur. Kapur says that:

“It is important that audiences today can relate their own lives to the journey of Bruce Lee, who manages to tap into his inner wisdom and harness his true destiny before it was too late.”

Lee also spoke about the project, saying that:

“I always thought that a film about how my father’s life was shaped in his early years in Hong Kong would be a worthwhile story to share so we could better understand him as a human being and a warrior. I’m really excited that Shekhar will breathe life into the first film from Bruce Lee Entertainment.”

It is expected to start shooting in Malaysia in July.
