News: Twin Peaks Spikes Showtime Streaming Numbers

With the David Lynch creation of Twin Peaks missing from the airwaves for over 25 years, fans of the show were more than ready to see it make a return in some form or another. After it was canceled, we got his Fire Walk With Me movie that maintained the mystery of Laura Palmer. Since then, the series continued to build a loyal fanbase that was chomping at the bit for more Twin Peaks. As it makes a comeback on Showtime, the cable outlet is reporting that numbers are hitting the roof with brand new subscribers.

This revival definitely sticks with the weirdness and slow pacing of all Lynch projects and brings old and new characters into the story arc. With that said, this return to Twin Peaks brought Showtime the largest single day number of sign-ups for its streaming service in its entire history. Making the third and fourth episodes available immediately via their Amazon channel Showtime Anytime, and Showtime On Demand was an extremely smart move on their part and will hopefully help this release model continue to grow with other cable outlets.
