This is a trailer for The Big Sick.
It was written by Kumail Nanjiani and his wife Emily V. Gordon and is a fictionalized account of their real life relationship, which involved an illness and challenges from both families accepting their relationship and cultural differences. It was directed by Michael Showalter, produced by Judd Apatow and Barry Mendel, and stars Nanjiani, Zoe Kazan, Holly Hunter, and Ray Romano. The film had a major bidding war at Sundance, with Amazon winning distribution rights for a hefty $12 million. It will receive a limited release on June 23, 2017, followed by a wider release on July 14, 2017.
