Box Office News: Cars 3 Drives It Home On Friday

Wonder Woman has a brand new foe. The animated vehicles of the Cars series have officially knocked her out of the top spot. After two extremely strong weekends for the female super hero, the Pixar film and the Tupac life story have officially taken the lead at the box office. Cars 3 opened to a rousing $19 million on Friday alone. The Shakur biography All Eyez On Me out performed all expectations with shows selling out everywhere. With it releasing on the 46th birthday of the rap icon, it was a perfectly timed and well marketed project that will see a great theatrical run much like Straight Outta Compton.

With Wonder Woman falling to third place, The Mummy came in fourth. In the fifth and sixth spots were 47 Meters Down and Rough Night. After the box office failure of Ghost in the Shell and now the poor reception to a comedic movie that stars Scarlett Johannson, her star power isn't what it once was.

And Alien: Covenant officially slips outside the top ten, becoming one of the biggest financial flops of summer 2017. 43 days into its release, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues to still make money.
