Sense8 was recently canceled by Netflix after the release of the second season. Since then the online fan backlash has been fervent, with a petition begun in hopes of saving the show. Netflix and the team behind the show have noticed, but it won't be enough to bring it back to life. The team behind the show recently released a message on Tumblr to fans thanking them for their support and petitions, but unfortunately it won't be enough for the show to return. They said:
"We've seen the petitions.
We've read the messages.
We know you want to #RenewSense8, and we wish we could #BringBackSense8 for you.
The reason we've taken so long to get back to you is because we've thought long and hard here at Netflix to try and make it work but unfortunately we can't.

The cancellation may very well be based more on the series budget than on the popularity of the series, as the budget per episode was reportedly in the millions.
