TV News: George R.R. Martin's Nightflyers Ordered As A SyFy Pilot

With George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones getting ready to wrap, another one of his stories is being adapted for the small screen. His Nightflyers is currently under order for a pilot at SyFy. They were so impressed with early development on the series, the pilot is now under order.

Considering the cable outlet's reinvigorated dedication to original programming, this might be a great step in the right direction. Martin has quite the collection of sci-fi works that could be translated to a series and this one is the next up to bat.

His novella was originally adapted as a film in 1987 to lackluster box office receipts. With SyFy bringing it back from the dead, they may have a hit on their hands. This is not the only Martin work that will be hitting television in the next couple years. Apparently, there are going to be several Game of Thrones spinoffs and his Wild Cards being turned into a show also, Martin is a major commodity when it comes to genre pieces.
