Universal's Despicable Me franchise is showing no signs of slowing down. Considering this is the third in the series, initial thoughts were that this might not be a huge box office hit and that it might start to show some signs of Minion fatigue. However, that was totally wrong. The Steve Carell starring animated film is sitting right around the same opening tally as the second Despicable Me movie.

According to most box office data, part 3 will have a massive global opening of somewhere around $196 million with a huge part of it coming from domestic ticket sales. The movie is set to make around $83.5 million just in the U.S. alone.
Considering this entry had the lowest ratings and worst critical reception of all three movies, Universal will be extremely happy with these results.
