News: Matt Groening's Animated Series Disenchantment Gets 20 Episode Order From Netflix

Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons and co-creator of Futurama, has a new animated series coming to Netflix. The adult animated fantasy series is titled Disenchantment and will receive a 20 episode order, consisting of two 10 episode seasons that will premiere in 2018. The voice cast is headlined by Abbi Jacobson, Nat Faxon, and Eric Andre. It also features John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding and Lucy Montgomery.

The series takes place in the kingdom of Dreamland and follows the trio of the hard-drinking princess Bean (Jacobson), her personal demon Luci (Andre), and her Elf companion (Faxon). On their adventures, they cross paths with ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools. Groening said that:

"Disenchantment will be about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you."

Cindy Holland, VP of Original Content at Netflix said that:

"Matt Groening’s brilliant work has resonated with generations around the world and we couldn’t be happier to work with him on Disenchantment. The series will bear his trademark animation style and biting wit, and we think it’s a perfect fit for our many Netflix animation fans.”
