Box Office News: A Scary Clown Continues To Float As A Mother! Struggles

No one could have imagined that IT would be such a massive blockbuster hit. Yes, analysts knew it would do well but the horrific clown movie continues to dominate in its second weekend with another $60 million in revenues. Set against a meager $35 million budget, the film transcends what has been a year of major financial disappointment for all the major studios. In only two weekends of release, the movie has effectively garnered $218 million and is already the 8th highest grossing movie of 2017.

In second place was the action adventure flick, American Assassin. The film made roughly $15 million over the three days which doesn't really paint a pretty picture for the launch of a new franchise. Reviews have been extremely mixed for the movie and it seems to be having a hard time finding a huge audience.

Taking third was Darren Aronofsky's divisive thriller mother!. Snagging only $7.5 million for the weekend, the filmmaker's artistic style was revered by most critics but despised by audiences as a whole. As one of the strangest movies of 2017 with a narrative that begs its viewers to think, the box office tallies are not great for one of the better films of the yer.

In fourth place was the Reese Witherspoon vehicle, Home Again with The Hitman's Bodyguard rounding out the fifth spot with another $3.5 million.
