News: Phil Lord And Chris Miller To Direct Artemis - Andy Weir's Follow-Up To The Martian




Phil Lord and Chris Miller have found their next directing gig after being fired from the Han Solo standalone film, replaced by Ron Howard. They will direct Artemis for 20th Century Fox and New Regency, the follow-up novel from The Martian author Andy Weir. The book is set to be released on November 14th by Crown Publishing. The Martian has sold more than 3 million copies since it was released in 2014. It was also turned into the 2015 film from 20th Century Fox starring Matt Damon, which received seven Academy Award nominations including Best Picture.

Artemis is a hard sci-fi thriller set in the 2080's-2090's on the lone city of the moon called Artemis. The story follows Jazz, a directionless twenty-something constrained by her small town. With debts to pay and a salary that barely covers the rent, she can’t say no when a life-changing opportunity drops in her lap. But she then finds herself in the middle of a conspiracy for control of the city itself.  

Lord and Miller's previous film credits include Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, The Lego Movie, and the two Jump Street films.The producers are Simon Kinberg, Aditya Sood, and Steve Asbell.
