News: Possible Friday the 13th Remake Release For 40th Anniversary

If there's anything we've all learned over the course of the past week, it's that horror is back in a big way. After the huge grosses of Annabelle: Creation this summer and Andy Muschietti's IT dominating box offices, studios are clamoring to take advantage of the trend. With the 40th anniversary right around the corner, it looks like Warner Bros. and New Line are quietly prepping another relaunch of the iconic slasher, Jason Voorhees. Several genre sites are reporting the news tonight.

Last year, Paramount scrapped all plans for their Friday the 13th sequel at the last minute. Now the property lies in flux as rights will revert back to Warner and New Line in 2018. This means they could easily get a reboot into production just in the nick of time for the anniversary.
