Box Office News: Scary Doll Makes Good: Annabelle Creation Crosses The $300 Million Mark


This year has seen a massive boom for horror across the board. From the huge box office numbers of Jordan Peele's Get Out to this week's number one release of Happy Death Day, movie fans are finally going back to the cinemas to see scary movies. In general, 2017 has been rife with great mainstream hits like IT and numerous smaller indies that have been super profitable for their production houses. 


This week sees The Conjuring spinoff prequel, Annabelle:Creation cross an unheard of threshold. The little movie with a tiny budget has officially made more than $300 million worldwide. Set against a very small cost of only $6.5 million, the haunted doll now stands at $301.5 million globally. 

With just four movies in release, The Conjuring franchise has spawned a string of hits that have totaled more than $1.2 billion. The Conjuring 3 is in the works as the next spin-off, The Crooked Man is also in early development stages.
