News: Franchise In Flux: Fast and Furious 9 Pushed Back

It seems that the long running Fast and the Furious franchise is in some amount of trouble as the studio has moved to push back the ninth entry by a year. The next sequel which was supposed to be released in 2019 has been delayed until 2020 as the future of the series doesn't really seem to have a direction right now. Universal has not stated their reasons for moving the movie yet, but there appears to be a growing rift between the stars and the production house.

Michelle Rodriguez has already stated she won't return unless she plays a more prominent part. And the only two people that have signed on for the project are Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel. F. Gary Gray has not committed to coming back as director and all the other supporting stars reportedly haven't even been contracted to come back either.

With Fate of the Furious being such a massive hit, it's rather shocking that nothing is officially in the works yet as there are supposed to be two more movies to close out the saga of cars and big action. While we don't really think this means the end, it looks like FF might need a little bit of gas to get going again.
