Box Office: Thor: Ragnarok Brings In $14.5 Million On Thursday Night; Continues Strong Internationally With $164.5 Million





Thor has begun his reign on the box office, with Thor: Ragnarok earning a strong $14.5 million Thursday night at the box office. Ragnarok outperformed previous Marvel releases on their preview nights and is on track to earn $110 million on its opening weekend. For a preview night, it ended up ahead of Thor: The Dark World ($7.1 million), Guardian's of the Galaxy ($11.2 million), Captain America: Winter Soldier ($10.2 million), Doctor Strange (9.4 million), and Deadpool ($12.7 million). As it begins its reign domestically, Thor continues to dominate internationally. Through Thursday, it has earned $164.5 million. China and Japan officially open today, with early reports being that it has done more than $15 million in China.  

Directed by Taika Waititi, it stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Mark Ruffalo, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jaimie Alexander, Anthony Hopkins, Karl Urban, Mark Ruffalo, Jeff Goldblum, and Idris Elba. It is in theaters now.
