News: Hellboy Gets A January 2019 Release Date


 Hellboy, the upcoming reboot of Mike Mignola's comic book franchise, now has an official release date. It will be released on January 11, 2019 against Paramount’s What Men Want starring Taraji P. Henson and Fox’s James Gray sci-fi thriller Ad Astra.

Neil Marshall (The Descent, Dog Soldiers) is directing Hellboy, with David Harbour (Stranger Things) replacing Ron Perlman as Hellboy. The rest of the cast includes Ian McShane (Deadwood) as Professor Bloom, Daniel Dae Kim as Major Ben Daimio, Penelope Mitchell as Ganeida, Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan, and Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil) as the main villain the Blood Queen. The rest of the cast includes Sophie Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda, Undercover, The Hollow Crown), Brian Gleeson (mother!, Assassin's Creed, Logan Lucky), and Alistair Petrie (The Night Manager, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story). Okonedo is set to play Lady Hatton, a seer at the ancient English club called the Osiris Club that is dedicated to uncovering supernatural mysteries. Petrie is portraying Lord Adam Glaren,a high-ranking member at the club. Gleeson will the play the wizard Merlin.

Aron Coleite had been working on a draft of the script that was written by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden, and Mike Mignola. Larry Gordon, Lloyd Levin, and Mike Richardson are serving as producers. Millenium Films and Lionsgate are producing the film, with Christa Campbell, Lati Grobman, and Carl Hampe serving as executive producers.
