News: The Sci-Fi Thriller Envoy Looks To Communicate With Aliens




Amy Pascal and Her Pascal Pictures have pre-emptively picked up the sci-fi thriller spec script titled Envoy from Kat Wood. First reported by Deadline, the film is being described as a mix between Arrival and The Day The Earth Stood Still. It is said to involve an elite intelligence specialist who jumps at the chance to take part in the selection process to become the first-ever human representative to alien life. 

Since she left Sony, Pascal has been busy acquiring and developing new projects. She is currently developing Mercury 13 as a mini-series at Amazon, which is based on the Martha Ackmann book The Mercury 13: The Untold Story of Thirteen American Women and the Dream of Space Flight. Wood’s writing credits include the short films Home and Mr. Bojagi, along with the feature length film Arthur & Merlin. She wrote and directed a proof of concept short film titled Stine that is currently in post-production and funded by Creative England.
