News: Sony Pictures Nabs Quentin Tarantino’s Upcoming Film

Sony Pictures has won the bid to finance and distribute Quentin Tarantino’s next film, currently being called #9. According to Deadline, the deal came about after a long night of negotiations between Sony and Tarantino’s reps from WME. It will be produced by David Heyman, Tarantino, Shannon McIntosh, with Georgia Kacandes as executive producer.

Not much had been known about the film except for that somehow centered around Charles Manson and the Sharon Tate murders, with A-listers Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, and Jennifer Lawrence possibly being involved. He later clarified at a brunch for The Beguiled, saying that:

 “It’s not Charles Manson, it’s 1969.”

So the drama is set in Los Angeles in the late ‘60s and is being compared to Pulp Fiction, with Manson and Sharon Tate fitting into one of the stories. The cast is rumored to include Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate, and Samuel L. Jackson. Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Tom Cruise have reportedly been talked to about playing one of the two lead male roles, but it’s uncertain if all three will appear in the film.
