News: Sony Plans To Make Marvel’s Morbius The Living Vampire

Sony looks to continue to build its stable of Films based upon Marvel characters, developing a film based on the Spider-Man antihero Morbius the Living Vampire.  They are looking for this to be their next Marvel film after completing Venom, as they lead up to a potential Sinister Six movie. Buck Sharpless and Matt Sazama (Power Rangers) secretly developed the script, which was just submitted to the studio according to THR

Dr. Michael Morbius is a biochemist who attempts to cure himself from a rare blood disease using an experimental treatment using Vampire bats. He instead became afflicted with a condition that was a form of pseudo-vampirism, giving him vampiric abilities and the thirst for blood. He often battled Spider-Man, but eventually became a tragically flawed, heroic character. He first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #101 (1971) and was created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane.

The new movies are not expected to be connected to Sony’s Tom Holland movies or the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
