News: Doug Liman Says Edge of Tomorrow 2 May Be Next

Director Doug Liman has been touting a sequel to Edge of Tomorrow for nearly a year. The primary script was finished back in October and an initial shoot date was scheduled for some time in 2019. Now, it looks like they're polishing up the final edit on the script and are getting their scheduling issues coordinated and ready to go. This means the film may move ahead well before they had initially planned. In the world of science fiction, this is considered good news. Edge of Tomorrow was a cool flick that saw Tom Cruise pairing with Emily Blunt to do what he does best: action.

When speaking with Collider, he had this to say:

"We’re just working on the script… [We’re no longer working on scheduling issues], now it’s down to we have a window where we could go do it, and we’re frantically working on the script.

Continuing on that thread, he said:

"It could be. It has the possibility of being my next film."

With the original building a hardcore following despite some name changes like Live. Die. Repeat., fans are ready to see where this might go next. Liman has already announced that this will be the only sequel and won't be spun off into multiple continuations. Both Cruise and Blunt will be back for Live Die Repeat and Repeat.
