The indie sci-fi film Rogue Warrior: Robot Fighter has been officially recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and is now eligible for this year’s Oscars. The Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will honor the best films of 2017 and will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California at 5:00 p.m. PST on March 4, 2018.
Sony Pictures released the film theatrically in June of 2017, with a Blu-ray release during the same month. It was then followed by a VOD release in August of 2017. It was written and directed by Neil Johnson, and stars Tracey Birdsall (Read our interview with her here), William Kircher (The Hobbit), Daz Crawford (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Stephen Manley (Star Trek III), and Marilyn Ghiggliotti (Clerks). "A few decades from now… Sienna, a rebellious robot-fighting arms dealer, lives on a post-apocalyptic Earth. When the cities start to fall under the control of the A.I.
