It was announced today that Jessica Szohr has been cast as a series regular on season 2 of the Fox sci-fi series The Orville. Szohr most recently appeared on the Showtime comedy Shameless. Her other credits include Gossip Girl, Twin Peaks, and Complications. Szohr will be playing a new member of the crew aboard The Orville. No additional information about her character was released at this time.
The Fox space dramedy was created and written by Seth MacFarlane, who also stars and serves as an executive producer. The season 1 cast included MacDarlane, Adrianne Palicki, Penny Johnson Jerald, Scott Grimes, Peter Macon, Halston Sage, J. Lee, and Mark Jackson.
The new season is expected to have around 14 episodes, which is slightly more than the 12 episodes of season 1. It is also not expected to be ready for the normal Fall schedule, due to it being an effects-heavy show.
