Laura Vandervoort has joined the reboot of David Cronenberg’s horror film Rabid. She will play Rose, a young woman who, after an accident leaves her scarred beyond recognition, undergoes a radical untested stem-cell treatment. While turning Rose into the belle of the ball, the experimental transformation comes at a price.
Vandervoort is best known for her roles as Indigo on Supergirl, Kara on Smallville, Lisa on V, Bitten, and Jigsaw.
Rabid is being overseen by Shout! Studios, which acquired the U.S rights to the reboot. It is being directed by Jen and Sylvia Soska (Dead Hooker In A Trunk), who co-wrote the reboot with John Serge. Back 40 Pictures is producing in along with Telefilm Canada and Ontario Media Development Corporation with Michael Walker, Paul Lalonde, and John Vidette serving as producers.
