News: Rian Johnson's Star Wars Trilogy May Release in Two Years - To Feature All New Characters

After the fan backlash over The Last Jedi, it's almost shocking that this is still happening. But, Rian Johnson is still moving forward with a brand new trilogy of Star Wars films for Disney and Lucasfilm. No real details have been released regarding the time frame of the films or what they'll revolve around. Strangely enough, the director doesn't seemed phased by the negative response his Skywalker entry received and has full intentions of doing a brand new arc that will cover three movies.

As he was speaking with From The Grapevine, Johnson's production partner Ram Bergman says that the movies will feature all new characters and won't be tied to the Skywalker saga whatsoever. When questioned about the release frame he said, "I can't tell you because we don't know yet. Maybe in two years; it's just in the early stages."

With the failure of Solo at the box office, it will be interesting to see where this project goes and if it stands the chance of being successful. Many fans are currently questioning the future of the franchise.
