After director Colin Trevorrow departed the upcoming Star Wars Episode IX over creative differences with producer Kathleen Kennedy, JJ Abrams once again stepped in to helm the latest and final installment of this trilogy. With Star Wars fans still split down the middle over Rian Johnson's The Last Jedi and the box office ramifications of Solo causing upheaval at Disney,  casting and production are ramping up for the yet untitled third part.

Now, word has broken that Felicity star Keri Russell has now joined the cast for the upcoming sequel. Abrams and Russell last joined forces on Mission Impossible III. Apparently the role calls for heavy fight sequences which Russell has shown a penchant for in her latest show on FX, The Americans.

Apparently, Abrams had met with several actresses for this role and settled on her right before the 4th of July.
