After decades of waiting, the classic Jim Henson special Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas is finally getting some of the love it deserves. Initially released in 1977 and building a cult following for the last forty and some odd years, this wonderful heart touching story has surprisingly never had a proper soundtrack release. Now, just in time for the Christmas season, the music composed by Paul Williams will see a new life as it's released on Record Store Day with 15 full tracks including one bonus song called 'Born in a Trunk'.
In other news related to Emmet Otter, Paul Williams will join the President of Jim Henson Legacy, Craig Shemin at the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens, NY for a discussion on the film. So, get out there and get your copy on Record Store Day. This one won't last long.
